  6. ARE KEPT TOGETHER IN THIS FOLDER. THEY ARE DEDICATED TO NON-PROFESSIONAL TIME-

  13. The programs included can either list files of the MS DOS-format on standard-
  14. AMIGAs or copy them to AMIGA-DOS. They can only be run from the CLI.

  16. Description:

  18. The programs work on Disks in Standard-MS DOS and ATARI ST-format with an 
  19. ID-Block in position 0. This block is written by TOS and MS DOS from version
  20. 3.2 onward.
  21.  
  22. When started, you are prompted for an MS DOS or ATARI ST Disk. Please enter
  23. the number of the Drive (0 for DF0:,1 for DF1: and so on). Before pressing
  24. <RETURN>, please make sure that the lights of the Drive have faded. The Disk
  25. should not be removed until the program has finished.

  27. Afterwards, the computer tries to read the BootBlock. Now is the chance for
  28. you to find out whether the disk in Drive contains a BootBlock: If it
  29. doesn't, the lights will go out (all of them).

  31. Next, the contents of the main directory are displayed. Select the file to be
  32. processed by its number, if it is a subdirectory, its contents are displayed
  33. as well and you will be prompted again. .. will return to the parent directory,
  34. as usual in MS DOS.

  36. If you selected the COPY-program, the source file will be copied to RAM:MS DOS.

  39. ATTENTION: The present version processes correctly formatted and readable
  40. disks only, on ReadErrors: See above.

  42. REMARK: We tested the programs on 3½-Inch disks only, but 5¾ should not cause
  43. real trouble. Also, we must confess that we only had ATARI- and AT-
  44. formatted MS DOS disks at hand, but they worked properly.

  48. Professional Version:
  49.  
  50. The professional version is safe and allows working with the IBM-Files 
  51. directly with standard-programs and device DOS: (like most file-requesters
  52.  and editors) that only open files for reading.
  53. (May be applicable to the more recent
  54. Kickstart-Versions only, testing still in process. We had to find out that
  55. DOSLIB does not support standard library functions, nor do the standard
  56. programs like "dir","cd" and so on use the DOSLIB. Not to mention that all
  57. of the Offsets of DOSLIB as mentioned in the RKM are all wrong. DAMN TO 
  58. HIM WHO IS RESPONSIBLE! YOU OWE ME ONE TERRIBLE WEEK OF MY LIFE!).

  72. We're planning a new version, supporting the standard-CLI commands (or replacing
  73. these with updates). Probably there will also be a COPY-Prog to FastCopy a
  74. MS DOS-Disk to AMIGA-DOS. We hope that we will also (at last!!) be able to
  75. write to a DOS-Disk (although there are strange Hardware-Problems).

  77. Note that we will find out the need for an update by measuring the acceptance
  78. of the old one. The update version will be distributed at a low price for owners
  79. of V1.2. If you already hold one of these: DON'T CALL US, WE'LL CALL ON YOU!!
